MORPHING CALAF

MORPHING CALAF

IES Alexandre de Riquer + Estràbic + Josep Mases

Morphing Calaf is an educational project that was carried out with IES Alexandre de Riquer, and was conducted by the teacher of the centre together with the Estràbic collective. The project emerged as part of the framework of the inter-relation with other centers that the Idensitat program was seeking for.

The collaboration with IES Alexandre de Riquer consisted in the organization of an analytical process about the public spaces in Calaf. The project was directed to the students of the centre and was carried out by the teachers [Albert Minoves, Mi Alba Puigpelat, Àlex Recasens]; the Estràbic collective [Alejandro Araya, Jorge Caballero, Laura Casaponsa, Quim Moya and Eva Quintana], and Josep Mases – model maker and Calaf resident.

The activity sought to reveal the youngsters` capability to become active agents when it comes to the design of the public spaces that they use.

CATALANA TROLL

CATALANA TROLL

AWP [Alessandra Cianchetta, Matthias Armengaud]

Troll is a work by the inter-disciplinary studio AWP that proposes different perceptive models of the city through research and intervention in it at night. Troll occupied adaptable places with the objective to leave traces, to pass new borders, to trigger a critical and poetic look, while renovating the perceptive geography that connects different social groups. Consequently, the collective drew a map that would focus on the different dimensions of the physical space, as well as the different workshop sessions.

The work was carried out in collaboration with the students and teachers of the Dinamización Sociocultural del IES Guillem Catà cycle.

SERVEI D'INTERPRETACIO TERRITORIAL

S.I.T. SERVEI D’INTERPRETACIÓ TERRITORIAL

Sitesize [Elvira Pujol, Joan Vila-Puig]

Sitesize proposed a service of interpretation, investigation and diffusion about the urban expansion of Manresa, as well as its relationship with the municipalities surrounding it. The working process was related to activities and mechanisms of collective knowledge production and communication strategies. A workshop about urban growth was carried out, as well as an itinerary in the surrounding areas of Manresa. These activities generated a stable working team that worked with the local imaginary with which the citizens experience transformation.

The collective produced an exhibition device with which they would diffuse, between February and March, the information archive that at the same time served to trigger activities with educational and associative centers.

GROUND SPECIFIC

2A + P Architettura [Giafranco Bombaci, Domenico Cannistraci, Pietro Chiodi, Matteo Constanzo, Valerio Franzone]

The inauguration of the Can Bertran garden took place on June 13, 2007. The project had begun in mid 2005, during IDENSITAT 05, when the 2A+P collective started a series of work sessions in the Centro Recreativo of the elderly, in order to recuperate a green area of the village.

2A+P`s project initially sought to propose urban development mechanisms that would be closely related to the physical space, thus intertwining the natural and social structures. The project intended to generate urban ecology systems. This process was materialized in the construction of a garden, in a lot that was handed over by its owner to the municipality, on condition that its use would be intended for the elderly of the village, Can Bertran.

After defining the location, the collective carried out a collaboration process with the Casal de la Gente Mayor, in order to design and draw the plans of the garden. 2A+P also collaborated with the council of Urbanismo del Ayuntamiento de Calaf, during the construction of the project. Moreover, for the future management of the garden, 2A+P created a collaboration bridge between the collective of the elderly and the municipality.

NUCLI ANTIC

NUCLI ANTIC

Erika Arzt, Juan Linares

With the objective to compare the expectations that the residents of the old neighborhood have of their district, the project proposed to detect aspects that were not taken into account in the urban rehabilitation plans of the area. The process consisted of a series of interviews with the residents and people involved in the rehabilitation plan.

The realization of small scale artistic interventions in private spaces intended to make visible the strange relationship between what was standardized and auto-construction elements brought by the residents. The final result of the project was a review that compiled all the interviews that were carried out during the process.

LA CIUTAT DELS NENS

LA CIUDAD DE LOS NIÑOS ( City of the children )

Natalia Naranjo, Elena Perera, Víctor Viña

This project developed by focusing on the children’s perception of the old city center, considering it a tool for reflection about the development and construction phenomena that the village was experiencing. During the process, the boys and girls used digital tools to enhance their individual and collective communication. The process counted on the participation of teachers and students of the CEIP Alta Segarra de Calaf, within an educational framework of experimentation.

New technologies were used to carry out mapping workshops, urban itineraries, live interviews, and alternative representation systems. The final activity consisted in an intervention called Pintando Calaf, which was open to everyone and took place at the Plaza Gran de Calaf, on April 1.
